Moffat haters….Shut The Fuck Up.

hilliersmithstudios:

It’s ridiculous what many people are saying with Doctor Who. Moffat as a producer increased the standard brilliantly, he looked at what Russel T Davies was doing wrong (cliche Daleks, Cyberman, The Master) and it got boring very quickly. Not to mention all of those episodes felt like a student film with a moderate budget.

Moffat changed the cliche’s and added incredible variety towards Doctor Who, instead of Daleks or Cybermen he invents new and modern monsters. The season finale’s are original ideas instead of recurring bad guys. The Matt Smith era doesn’t feel like a student film, it feels like an incredible cinematic experiance. We no longer need cheesy bad plots like the Russel era, we need clever and new ideas because we have grown up since Season 1, and Moffat has made Doctor Who GROW UP WITH US. However everyone is too stupid to notice or still butthurt over David Tennant. The main problem is, because of the big changes Moffat has made, people WANT to hate on it, because that is a very British thing to do….and if they continue being ridiculous Moffat won’t just pull the plug on his Twitter, he will also pull the plug on Doctor Who.

So, I am retaliating in the same manner Moffat haters are…shut the fuck up and enjoy fucking brilliant television.

Not necessarily true. When Moffat took over the show, I was really excited—many of my favorite episodes had been written by Moffat. And I LOVED series 5 (except for seeing the angel move in that one episode). I thought it was clever and exciting, and I really liked Amy and Rory. But then series 6 happened. It started off pretty good. Still clever and exciting and made sense. By the second half of the series, however, it started to get so convoluted and over-complicated that I didn’t really care about the characters anymore—I was spending too much time trying to figure out the plot. Furthermore, Amy didn’t really seem to grow or change at all as a result of traveling with the Doctor and that is something that should have happened. Traveling with the Doctor changes people. It always has. But it didn’t seem to change Amy enough. Moffat also changed the way River Song’s timeline worked (and made her way too important, in my opinion). He doesn’t seem to have much regard for canon and that bothers me. I know it’s a new era, but it’s still the same show I don’t think Moffat should just be changing things left and right without offering an explanation that makes sense in this universe simply because he wants to. When series 7 started, I was hoping that Moffat would turn it around, but I really hated Asylum of the Daleks. I thought the writing was shoddy and Amy and Rory’s plot line seemed really forced. It was like Moffat was struggling to make them relevant to the episode. And the Doctor’s reaction to finding out Oswin was a dalek—squashing the human out of her? Not telling her to hold onto those human thoughts? Really? The Doctor I know cherishes humanity in all its forms. (Also, Oswin is the same character as Amy so far. Can he write female characters with characteristics other than sexy, sassy, flirty, and smart? We can be more complicated than that.) However, while I didn’t like Asylum of the Daleks, I absolutely loved Dinosaurs on a Spaceship. It was funny, clever, exciting, and interesting. And it even had some cool gender politics happening! Awesome!
So I am excited for this series, even if my hopes aren’t as high as they were when series 5 and 6 started. I do hope they get to go to the past this series, as I prefer when they travel to the past than to the future (The Shakespeare Code is my all-time favorite episode) and they haven’t really done that since Moffat took over. We’ll see what happens!

So no—it’s not blind hatred or stupidity. I genuinely liked the Moffat era when it started. But it’s gotten too ridiculous and convoluted and quite frankly, I’m ready for something to change.

I should add that of course, you are entitled to your opinion. And I don’t think you are stupid for liking the Moffat...
